Optical biopsy by multimodal multiphoton tomography

Microscopy talkMultimodal multiphoton tomography based on time resolved two-photon autofluorescence (2P-AF), second harmonic generation (SHG) and coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) are label free contrast mechanisms for biomedical applications. Here, I present a compact, mobile and flexible clinical tomograph for simultaneous detection of all these contrast mechanisms. The in vivo detection of endogenous fluorophores NAD(P)H, melanin and elastin, SHG-active collagen as well as of non-fluorescent lipids/proteins inside human skin is possible within seconds and subcellular resolution.
